Sam Jones, who promoted Johnny Fisher initially, felt utterly sad to see ‘The Romford Bull’ face the first defeat of his professional boxing career on Saturday (17 May).
Veteran boxer David Allen outdid Fisher via TKO in the fifth round at the packed Copper Box Arena in London. It was the rematch between the two boxers, having battled first in a 10-round fight on 21 December 2024 in Saudi Arabia.
On paper, Fisher earned a standard decision victory then. But most of the experts indicated that Allen should have won the fight.
Just like the first battle, the 26-year-old heavyweight prospect started to win the early rounds. But Dave started to take advantage from the third round, and by the fifth, it was all over for the fans’ favourite Fisher.
Jones, who looked utterly shocked with Fisher’s TKO loss, told IFL TV: “It was hard to watch, wasn’t it? It was definitely hard to watch, but the writing was sort of on the wall, I thought, in the forefront, and the alarm bells started ringing for me. I was thinking, oof, but Johnny boxed nice for the first few rounds. Again, similar to the Saudi performance, wasn’t it? But only Dave had the gears to go through and he got the stoppage. I thought the ref could have stopped it a bit earlier, if I’m honest with you. I didn’t think Johnny needed to cop that last one.”
Fisher was unbeaten before last weekend’s contest, winning his first 13 fights. For David Allen (boxer), it has made his official comeback in boxing. Just a year ago, he was ruled out by several boxing fans and pundits.
This was ‘The White Rhino’s 24th professional career victory, losing seven with two draws in 33 fights.
