Oscar De La Hoya, who is the promoter of Ryan Garcia, has given the latest update about his star boxer’s mindset after the shocking Rolando Romero defeat in May 2025.
Garcia is now working on his shoulder injury. De La Hoya wants his leading boxer to take a year-long break before making a comeback.
It was Ryan’s second career defeat last month, having lost his first fight to Gervonta Davis in April 2023.
Oscar De La Hoya said: “He’s going to take a look at his shoulder now. I actually would like Ryan to think about taking the whole year off.”
Garcia is just 26 years old, with a decent record of 24 wins, two losses and one no contest in 27 pro fights. So, taking a break for one year is not too troublesome, as his net worth is in millions. However, it is more about how he makes a comeback emotionally.
