It’s been almost two years since Turki Al-Sheikh has taken over the world of boxing. With the power of the Saudi government budget for Sports events, he has changed the face of boxing.
Even promoters Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren have become friends and started to work togather. Turki first came up with Riyadh Season events.
And late 2024, he took ownership of Ring Magazine or The Ring. Now they are doing worldwide events under Ring Magazine and major fights in boxing in Saudi Arabia as Riyadh Season events. However, both events are similar as the power is coming from one place only.
Firstly, on Friday evening at Times Square, a historic boxing event is taking place. It is the debut of The Ring Magazine event in the United States.
Last week, they started things with a massive event in London where Chris Eubank Jr will beat Conor Benn at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Ring Magazine Event: Ryan Garcia vs Rolly Romero
On Friday, Ryan Garcia vs Rolly Romero will headline the card. However, all three fights are worthy of headlining the DAZN PPV.
Before the main event, Devin Haney and Jose Ramirez will battle it out in a high-profile contest.
The first of three mega fights will start with Teofimo Lopez vs Arnold Barboza Jr.
Turki Al-Sheikh has a plan for Garcia vs Haney II after the first fight in 2023 was a no contest, as Garcia failed the drug test. However, Garcia beat Haney first. But the decision was changed later.
The three-fight mega showdown will start at 4:30 pm (CT).
Canelo Alvarez vs William Scull
Star fighter Canelo Alvarez, on May 3, will face IBF champion William Scull for the undisputed super-middleweight championship. The highly anticipated fight will happen at The Venue Riyadh Season, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Alvarez has the chance to become the two-time undisputed super-middleweight champion, having won it first after beating Caleb Plant on 6 November 2021.
Alvarez’s victory will make sure that the super fight against Terence Crawford will take place in September 2025. It is also a part of DAZN PPV.
Naoya Inoue vs Ramon Cardenas
At the T-Mobile Arena, Naoya Inoue and Ramon Cardenas will battle for the undisputed super bantamweight title on May 4, Sunday.
It was a part of the Top Rank event and will be streamed in the United States on ESPN+.
So from Friday to Sunday, there are many top-level flights taking place.
Summery
While it has a deep history, there has never been a weekend when three top events happen in the same week.
