Boxing promoter Frank Warren says his doors are open for Billy Joe Saunders if the Brit wants to make a comeback.
Saunders has not fought since losing to Canelo Alvarez in May 2021. The two-weight world champion is now 35 years old. And it is possibly the last chance for him to make a comeback and reach the great levels again.
Saunders has wasted three to four years. Coming straight back to the boxing ring post-Canelo loss would have possibly made him earn the rematch against the Mexican, as there were several fight fans who felt that he was winning the up until he faced an eye injury in the eighth round.
Warren, who promoted Saunders for most of his career, told Boing Social: “He said he’s in the gym and he’s training, and that’s how we left it, and he’ll see how it goes with his training and the weight and so forth. If he wants to, he knows where I am, and as I say, we’ve had exploratory talks. We’ll see where we go from there.”
Billy Joe has won 30 of his 31 pro fights. He is famous for his amazing boxing skills. However, losing weight is a challenge for him at present.
