Aamir Khan sees high potential in Manny Pacquiao beating Mario Barrios and becoming the world champion at the age of 46.
Pacquiao, who is a legend of boxing, last fought Yordenis Ugas in Augest 2021. It was a 12-round beating eight-weight world champion.
However, in May 2025, Pacquiao announced his comeback to fight Barrios for the WBC welterweight championship on July 19 in Las Vegas.
Barrios has lost two of 32 professional fights, with one draw and 29 wins. His only two defeats came against Gervonta Davis in 2021 and Keith Thurman in 2022.
Thurman is a boxer that Pacquiao has already beaten. But then, he was in his 30s. But being 46 and then winning a fight is a lot.
But boxing great Khan feels that it’s a very good matchup for Pacquiao to look good.
He told IFL TV: “For Manny, I think it’s a great fight. And it’s a fight that is winnable, even if he’s had like a half a hard count.”
Aamir in the 2010s tried his best to get the fight against Pacquiao, but the matchup was not able to materialise. In 2024, Pacquiao was also eager to fight box office sensation Conor Benn.
Pacquiao vs Barrios is a fight that many fight fans are questioning on the way the WBC has given it a green signal for the world title fight.
