Vasiliy Lomachenko turned professional in 2013 and retired officially on 5 June 2025. He did fight 21 times in the pro ranks, winning 18 and losing three fights.
His first defeat as a professional boxer was possibly a robbery. It was his second contest, losing the WBO featherweight title to Orlando Salido. However, most of the fight fans felt that Lomachenko should have been given the decision. But on 21 July 2014, he beat Gary Russell Jr. and won the WBO featherweight title.
He then defended the title against Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo, Gamalier Rodriguez and Romulo Koasicha before moving to the junior lightweight division, where he beat Roman Martínez to win the WBO junior lightweight title.
After beating Nicholas Walters, Jason Sosa, Miguel Marriaga and Guillermo Rigondeaux, Vasiliy outdid Jorge Linares in May 2018 to become the three-division world champion and won the WBA (Super) and The Ring lightweight titles.
He first defended his title against Jose Pedraza and then outclassed Anthony Crolla to add the WBO title. In 2019, he made his debut as a pro in Britain and beat Luke Campbell and adding the WBC title.
Then, for the undisputed lightweight title, Teofimo Lopez outsmarted Lomachenko and gave Lomachenko his career’s first loss since becoming the world champion.
He then beat Masayoshi Nakatani, Richard Commey and Jamaine Ortiz before losing the clash to Devin Haney. However, the boxing fans felt that Lomachenko was robbed.
On 12 May 2024, he defeated George Kambosos Jr at RAC Arena, Perth, Australia and finished his career on a fine note. A year later, in June 2025, he officially retired from pro boxing.
