Anthony Joshua v Deontay Wilder was the fight in the world of boxing back in 2018 and 2019. Both fighters were unbeaten back then, holding all the major belts in the heavyweight division.
However, by 2025, both pugilists had lost several times. Simon Jordan, who is a sports commentator and a massive boxing fan, strongly feels that Anthony Joshua v Deontay Wilder does not have the impact anymore.
Wilder is 39 years old, and Joshua is 35. So both boxing stars are at the very backend of their professional careers.
Simon said on talkSPORT: “Yeah, I mean, I’m not hugely interested in seeing a rematch with Deontay Wilder, because I think Deontay Wilder is a shadow of himself. I think that’s just an image fight. But I’m more interested in seeing him fight, the two fights that I think are interesting to me, is a rematch against Dubois and the Fury fight.”
Jordan wants AJ to look for a Tyson Fury showdown or a Daniel Dubois rematch rather than locking horns with Wilder, who has lost his touch to the core. In a way, Joshua has looked better overall than Wilder since 2021. Wilder has lost four of his last five fights, which has taken his career to rock bottom.
