Boxing legend Nigel Benn, who is the father of Conor Benn, said in a recent press conference for the Benn vs Chris Eubank fight that his son got the better of William Scull in Sparring.
It is a huge claim as IBF champion Scull will face great Canelo Alvarez on May 3 for the mega super-middleweight contest.
Nigel Benn said: “You know the saying, ‘what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas?’ Well, what happened in Majorca, I’m telling.”
“First he started sparring with Denzel Bentley. He’s a super-middleweight but really at light heavyweight now and he had his hands full with Conor. Conor did 10 rounds easy.
“Then he was sparring the guy who knocked out Munguia, Bruno Surace, another light-heavy. Conor was bullying him around.
“Then to put the cherry on top he started sparring a guy called William Scull, an IBF champion, who is fighting Canelo a week after Conor.”
Nigel Benn did tell about the sparring stories, as many boxing experts questioned whether Conor jumping to middleweight from welterweight might be too much for him.
In October 2022, the fight between Benn vs Eubank Jr was supposed to take place.
A few days before the mega impact, Benn had to pull out of the fight after testing positive for a banned substance.
He then took two-plus years to clear his name first and then look to fight the family rival.
The fight will take place at a packed Tottenham Hotspur stadium on Saturday.
