International Boxing Organization (IBO) super-featherweight champion Anthony Cacace will face Leigh Wood at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham on Saturday.
The fight can be seen LIVE officially all over the world on DAZN. Wood (28-3, 17 KOs), who is the former WBA featherweight champion, feels that he can beat Cacace with ease.
However, the Brit is coming after an 18-month (around) inactivity. His last fight was against Josh Warrington, winning via a seventh-round technical knockout, on 7 October 2023.
Meanwhile, Cacace had an amazing 2024. He beat Joe Cordina with an eight-round TKO in May 2024 before shouting Warrington via a 12-round unanimous decision.
Cacace (23-1, 8 KOs) had his only defeat in pro ranks against Martin Joseph Ward in July 2017. However, Wood feels that he has all the tools to beat Cacace.
He told Boxing News: “Yeah, possibly. I don’t think this fight will go the same way, but I do believe I’ll get him out of there. I’ve said that many times. I’m confident in that. As long as I do what I set out to do and stick to my plan, I will be successful in getting him out.”
As Wood is 36 years old, losing a fight here might make a comeback very hard.
