On Saturday, Chris Eubank Jr outsmarted Conor Benn in a 12-round modern boxing classic at the packed Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
All three judges scored 116-112 in favour of Eubank Jr, who won his 35th professional boxing fight (three defeats).
It was the first time Conor Benn fought in the middleweight division rather than welterweight. Despite Eubank Jr. finding it hard to make the weight, he did use his advantage of being the bigger man on Saturday.
However, fans across social media felt that the judges’ scorecard did favour the right man, but overall, the fight was very close.
It is to the level where some fight fans even said it should have been a draw. This was Conor’s first-ever career defeat, having won 23 fights before this mega contest.
As there is a rematch clause, Conor did make it clear after the fight that he wants to face Eubank again and avenge his defeat.
Conor said (post-fight press conference): “Yeah, I want the revenge man.”
The fight did see Eubank Jr unite with his father – ‘Chris Eubank Sr’ – who did come up to support his boy.
