Matchroom Boxing boss Eddie Hearn thinks that there is nothing bad going on between the World Boxing Council and Turki Al-Sheikh’s Riyadh Season.
In an interview given to IFV TV on YouTube, Hearn said: “I mean, that’s not a question for me. The answer is, I don’t know.”
Since 2023, Riyadh Season has become the biggest home of boxing. Most of the top fights in the world of professional boxing are happening under the leadership of Turki Al-Sheikh.
However, in March 2025, he partnered with Dana White and TKO to form a new boxing structure which would make the sport something like the UFC.
As the UFC’s belt does not come from any governing body like WBC, WBO, WBA or IBF in boxing, many experts feel that it could be the end of these historical belts.
This is why many fight fans were saying on social media that everything is not good between the WBC and Turki Al-Sheik.
Not to forget that early in March, the WBC and Riyadh Season partnered for the WBC Grand Prix event where several boxing fights will take place.
Dmitry Bivol vacated his WBC title recently, as he did not want to fight mandatory challenger David Benavidez, looking for a trilogy with Artur Beterbiev.
This was something that made many boxing stakeholders feel that everything is not all moonlight and roses between Mauricio Sulaiman and Turki Al-Sheikh.
