Teofimo Lopez had a decisive victory over Arnold Barboza Jr last Friday at Times Square. His aim now seems to be to fight Jaron Ennis, which he has said many times after the fight.
Barboza Jr was the 22nd professional fighter Lopez has beaten out of 23 fights (one loss). But now he wants to challenge Jaron Ennis, who is the unified welterweight champion and unbeaten in his pro career with 34 wins and a no-contest.
When asked about the Lopez vs Ennis fight, Eddie Hearn felt that Lopez does not stand a chance against Ennis, as the size issue might make the biggest impact.
In an interview given to Ring Magazine YouTube Channel, Eddie said: “I like the fight. I don’t see a way that Teofimo Lopez beats Jaron Ennis at 147. I mean, I don’t think he’s (Teofimo) a big 140-pounder. You know, he weighed in, once they rehydrated, I think he was like 146 pounds.”
As Turki Al-Sheikh wants to see Lopez versus Ennis, there is a possibility of this mega all-American fight taking place later this year. This is because Turki Al-Sheikh has changed the face of boxing in the last two years with his massive investments.
