Devin Haney, who has done several back-and-forths with Josh Taylor in the last few years, teased the Scottish boxing legend after he faced a humiliating defeat against Ekow Essuman at OVO Hydro in Glasgow on Saturday (24 May).

The American pugilist expressed his views on X. He said: “Wow, Josh Taylor.. S****y boy.”

It was a crucial fight for both fighters, with Essuman winning the vacant WBO Global welterweight title. It was the third straight defeat for Taylor, who lost to Teofimo Lopez in June 2023 and Jack Catterall in May 2024.

Ever since becoming the undisputed light-welterweight champion in May 2021, beating Jose Ramirez, Taylor has not managed to find the solid touch.

Even several fight fans and pundits felt that he lost the first fight against Catterall, too, in February 2022.

Catterall still feels sad about getting robbed and not becoming the undisputed light-welterweight champion in 2021. Josh Taylor’s record now stands 19 wins and three losses.

The latest defeat has put a question mark on his future. For Ekow Essuman, it is a career-boosting win. In November 2023, he faced his professional career’s first-ever defeat against Harry Scarff.

But now beating Taylor has made a great statement. His record now stands 22 wins and one loss in 23 contests.

Taylor is 34 years old, and a comeback from here might be a hard task overall,
