Conor Benn is days away from battling it out against Chris Eubank Jr. in the biggest fight of his career.
On Saturday, Benn (23-0, 14 KOs) will lock horns against Eubank Jr.(34-3, 25 KOs) at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The mega British fight is moving the historical storyline between the Benn and Eubank families. The fathers of Conor and Chris did battle twice in the professional ranks.
Eubank Sr. beat Nigel Benn in the first meeting via TKO on 18 November 1990. The second fight happened around three years later, on 9 October 1993, with legendary fighters sharing a draw. But many fight fans felt that Nigel Benn won the second fight.
And years later, their sons are battling in the middleweight division to carry this legacy forward.
This will be Benn’s first fight in the middleweight division, having fought all his life in the welterweight division.
In October 2022, the fight was just five days away from taking place. But Conor failed the drug test, and hence, it took him more than two years to clear his name.
Benn, who is unbeaten in his professional boxing career, feels that fear of losing makes him work harder.
“I fear losing all the time. That’s what gets me out of bed at five in the morning. I fear losing.” Benn said.
“It’s the way I work. Some people … they love to win. That’s why I train hard, the fear of losing. Especially to this man (Eubank Jr.).”
The mega event is sold out. Even the undercard has some crucial fights.
- Liam Smith Vs Aaron McKenna (Middleweight)
- Anthony Yarde Vs Lyndon Arthur (Light heavyweight)
- Chris Billam-Smith Vs Brandon Glanton (Cruiserweight)
- Viddal Riley Vs Cheavon Clarke (Cruiserweight)
The event is a part of Ring Magazine events. It is also the first stadium fight in the United Kingdom in 2025.
