Amateur Background

Parker had 66 amateur fights and won the New Zealand Amateur Heavyweight event twice (2010 and 2011). It was the Commonwealth Boxing Championships in 2010 when Parker won the silver medal. He started to box at the early age of 10 under the watchful eyes of Grant Arkell.

Then in 2012, he made his professional debut. Parker turned professional in his early 20s.

Joseph fought his first 23 fights in New Zealand and managed to win the world title in his 22nd fight on 10 December 2016, as he defeated Andy Ruiz Jr. on points to win the vacant WBO heavyweight title.
