Amateur Career Highlights
At the young age of seven, Haney started to learn the basics of boxing. His amateur boxing career stood out, with 130 victories and eight defeats. The biggest highlight of his career was having six amateur fights with Ryan Garcia, a 3-3 draw.
130 wins helped him win seven national titles. He first lived in Oakland, California. And later moved to Las Vegas to progress in his professional career with his trainer and father, Bill.

Devin Haney turned professional at the young age of 17. He had to fight his initial fights in Mexico, as the United States has a rule to allow a boxer to turn pro at 18.
On 11 December 2015, he made his boxing debut at Billar El Perro Salado, Tijuana, Mexico. He beat Gonzalo Lopez in a first-round TKO.
He then fought three more fights in Mexico before making his US debut against Rafael Vazquez at MGM Grand Garden Arena, Paradise, Nevada, United States on 9 April 2016.
His first title came in a fourth-round TKO win over Maximino Toala in March 2017, winning the WBC Youth lightweight champion.

Teaming Up With Matchroom Boxing
April 25, 2019, Devin Haney signed a deal with Matchroom Boxing USA and DAZN. His Matchroom debut came against Antonio Moran, winning the fight via a seventh-round KO in May 2019.
He became a key Matchroom boxer and one of the favourites of the promoter Eddie Hearn. In September 2019, he beat Zaur Abdullaev and became the WBC interim lightweight champion.
He was mandatory to fight Vasiliy Lomachenko. But the WBC made the Ukrainian star ‘Super Champion’. As a result, Haney became the WBC lightweight champion.

On 5 June 2021, George Kambosos Jr lost to Devin in a 12-round fight (UD) and saw the American boxer become the undisputed lightweight champion.
He then beat the Australian boxer in the rematch in October 2022.
His 30th professional fight was against legend Vasiliy Lomachenko, winning the contest by a 12-round unanimous decision.
In December 2023, Haney fought in the Matchroom banner again and beat Regis Prograis for the WBC super lightweight title.
Controversial Fight Against Ryan Garcia
Devin Haney decided to fight Ryan Garcia for a mega Barclays Centre showdown on Apr 20, 2024. The 12-round fight, at first, saw Garcia win the contest. He did dominate Haney.
